The US Department of Labor reports job opportunities in this field as favorable through the year 2006. Employment is expected to grow faster than average due to increased concerns about crime in the workplace, gang violence and the need to provide security in courts and schools. In 1996, security guards held approximately 955,000 jobs with 59% of the agents working for security agencies and industrial firms. |
